Be like the sunflower, always find the light! Sunflowers are happy and cheerful and a perfect theme for picnics, bouquets or presents. Every year Buttonwoods farm in Griswold, CT has a sunflower festival where there are rows and rows of sunflowers grown. Tall and bright, they always face the sun! This year I wanted to make a fun themed date around the festival. I love stampin up sets that are versatile, and really the versatility depends on how creative you can be. As your stampin up demo, I'm here to show you how to use your stamps for more. I used the Eastern Medallion thinlits set to create this sunflower imagery. I used the thinlits shown below to cut out the yellow part of the flower. The brown part is cut out using the thinlits stacked up and cut out. Summertime blues is the theme for this week's TGIFChallenges #TGIFC117. I wanted to feature the Heartland stamp this week. I wanted some summer blues in country hues. I grew up in the city for the most of my life: first in India, then Virginia and now I'm in Rhode-Island. I'm learning what the country living is all about. While I enjoy the beautiful outdoorsy summer, I just wanted to make a card my husband and some local friends can relate to. But this stamp really speaks to me about a certain 7 year old nephew of mine who does the horse chores and farm bidding with so much passion and discipline that I think I'll surprise him with this card. To make this card, I cut out a piece of soft suede card stock 4.5" x 5.5". I used crumb cake card stock 4" x 3" and stamped the back barn image on the piece of card stock. Then I cut up the card stock in 4 pieces .75" each to give it a deconstructed look. I wanted to add a pop of blue for the summer blues...

Hello everyone, what do you like to do with your girl friends?  Sometimes you need a crazy friend to do crazy things with. My coworker Meghan left my work group and took another job. Level up to friendship! This was our first official Girls Night out since she left. We decided to try out the Drinkable Arts. Here's a picture of the Narwhals we painted. Why Narwhals? Because Meghan's obsessed with them and they are the magical unicorns of the sea after all.  We went to Olio's restaurant in Groton, had some great food, wine. Try Olio's bread basket-it is garlicky goodness! In the backroom, Mary Damm the lovely teacher from Drinkable Arts had everything set up and ready for the fun to begin.  She had beautiful samples ready of the things she's painted. Hello everyone, its been a while since I've played in TGIFChallenges. I love that the sketches provides different layouts to try out that you otherwise wouldn't think of.  I had to make a bridal shower card and I thought this card would be a perfect touch of bold and delicate just like the bride! For the challenge, I used the Floral Phrases stamp on Whisper White Cardstock. Melon cardstock, and Pop of Pink Designer Series paper, and Fresh Floral designer paper.
